Marissa’s journey with Heyn Photography began in the year 2000 when she was brought on by her former high school photography teacher John Heyn to sub in as a second shooter for a wedding. At the time, Marissa was considering pursuing a career in law, but her photography class with John Heyn during high school birthed her interest in photography. Originally drawn to fashion photography, she discovered her true passion lay in capturing the magic and emotion of weddings through her lens. As a young girl, she realized the true impact wedding photography can hold when looking through her parents’ wedding albums. She saw that the photos captured their love, and wanted to do the same for her clients.

By 2010, Marissa had become a partner in Heyn Photography, and in 2016, she took the helm as the owner and principal of the company. Heyn Photography now covers about 45 events each year, establishing itself as a premier wedding photography provider in the tri-state area, with the ability to travel to destination weddings for clients outside the region.

She emphasizes building personal connections with her clients, becoming a trusted friend and confidant throughout the entire wedding process.
