The Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic marked its ninth year with a record-breaking celebration. The annual event gathered more than 3,000 guests at Bouckaert Farm in Fairburn to celebrate another year of culture and fashion on Saturday, September 19.
This year the celebration kicked off on Friday September 18th, with an exclusive party at The Westin Atlanta Airport Hotel. The party was sponsored by Ben Crump Law, after Friday’s festivities, attendees got to enjoy signature cocktails, competitive polo matches, and a good time at the scenic polo grounds on Saturday.
“Even after nine years of doing this event, we honestly did not expect to receive as much support and excitement as we received this year.” Miguel Wilson says.
At the center of the event was a series of polo matches featuring Morehouse Polo Club, recognized as the nation’s first certified HBCU polo team, and the Atlanta B.E.S.T Academy Polo Team, the country’s first all-Black high school polo team registered with the U.S Polo Association.
Not only did the event showcase national teams they also hosted an international match against a visiting Nigerian Polo Team. The Founder, Migues Wilson, found luxury in the continued support the event has gotten.
“It means a lot that people took the time to come out and be with us. This means a lot not just for me, but also to the kids that we support.” Migues Wilson says.
Sports and cocktails weren’t the only form of entertainment that night, the afternoon featured a special performance from singer, songwriter and actor, Tyrese, adding live entertainment to an already packed day.
The high-profile guest list reflected Atlanta’s connection to fashion, entertainment, and culture, with appearances from public figures such as former Atlanta Mayor and Georgia gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms, entertainment mogul Mona Scott-Young, television personality Toya Johnson-Rushing, Grammy Award-winning producer Bryan-Michael Cox, actors Lamman Rucker and Terri J. Vaughn, television personality Mimi Faust, legendary radio personalities Big Tigger and Kenny Burns, television host Portia Bruner, news correspondent Guy Lambert, celebrity photographer Derek Blanks, and Pastor Jamal Bryant.
Beyond the event itself, the fundraiser raised $30,000 directly supporting the Rise to Olympics Foundation, empowering youth in underrepresented communities through equestrian sports, leadership development, and ongoing funding for the Atlanta B.E.S.T Academy polo team.
“Over time, our goal is to create a national competitive circuit of youth teams competing against one another, opening doors to life-changing educational, athletic and career opportunities.” Wilson said.
The Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic continues to bring together elements that distinguish Atlanta: fashion, entertainment, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and community. Nine years into the event, its growing audience is helping support a larger effort to introduce more young people to opportunities within the equestrian world.
