LUZIA: A dazzling Cirque du Soleil Spectacle

Where circus acrobatics and whimsicality come together to tell a bold story of Mexican culture

Now is your chance to experience jaw-dropping stunts, mesmerizing visuals, and a world of wonder at LUZIA by Cirque du Soleil. Masterfully combining light (‘luz’ in Spanish) with rain (‘lluvia’), this show is a gorgeous display of circus acts that tell the story of Mexican culture, history, and mythology.

This is no ordinary circus, as Cirque du Soleil combines acrobatics with singing, music, and storytelling under the Big Top for an unforgettable, engaging experience. The audience is fully immersed in the performance, and since the stage is round, there is not a bad seat in the house. As the lights begin to dim and the music builds, the first thing you can’t help but notice is the vibrant colors everywhere. Everything from the costumes to the set designs is bold and beautiful, completely capturing your attention before any of the acrobatics begin.

Once the show starts, you are left on the edge of your seat the entire time. Each stunt is accompanied by a story, creating a well-rounded, emotionally impactful experience. In an extreme hand-balancing act, one of the acrobats plays a lifeguard floating on a buoy amid the waves, a tribute to 1920s Mexican cinema. In another act, a performer pays homage to Mexican speed juggling as he balances seven clubs at impressive speeds. And of course, we can’t forget internationally acclaimed contortionist Aleksei Goloborodko, as he twists and bends his body in unimaginable ways that are sure to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

The acrobats and stunning scenery aren’t the only things that make this show special. For the first time in the history of Cirque du Soleil’s 38 shows, some of the acts were also accompanied by water effects. The water curtains are masterfully engineered with 174 individually controlled nozzles that open and close nearly 200 times per second, creating gorgeous images mid-air.
