For Xavier Omär, love isn’t just sweet melodies and picture-perfect moments; it’s a ride. With the release of his latest album, HunnyMoon Mountain, the Texas-based artist set out to capture the twists, turns, and emotional rush of relationships.

Finding Inspiration Beyond Himself
“The theme comes from real experiences, not just mine, but also my friends and family,” Omär says. “I didn’t want it to be just my story. I wanted to find the similarities in all of our stories and put myself in their shoes.”
Even the title carries layers of meaning. Omär had been playing with the word honeymoon for years but refused to lean into the cliché. Instead, he imagined a theme park ride, thrilling, unpredictable, and sometimes scary. “Every ride goes up and down, or spins you around. There’s fun in the danger,” he explains. “And I think it’s the same with love, there’s always risk in being vulnerable, but the hope is that it’s going to be good for you.”

Xavier Omär Pushing the Sound in New Directions
Musically, HunnyMoon Mountain is just as dynamic. The project spans everything from R&B and gospel to reggae and soft rock. “I’ve always been sonically diverse, but this one is even more so,” Omär says. “The deep frustration you feel in a relationship, sure, you can do that in R&B. But sometimes a rock guitar just says it better.”
For Omär, vulnerability has never been something to shy away from. Songs like “Little Mistakes” showcase the tension and honesty that come with commitment. “Once I’ve gone through it, it doesn’t feel like exposing myself,” he says. “It feels like I’m helping someone else.”
That openness extends to how he views love itself. Quoting a line that stuck with him, Omär reflects: “Love is not the state of feeling, it’s the state of the will. Feelings change every day, but commitment is a decision. If two people make that choice, you’ll make it through.”
Carrying Hope Forward
Looking ahead, Omär plans to lighten things up creatively. “The next project, I just want to have fun,” he says with a laugh. “I’ve been deep in concepts, and now I just want to say stuff that doesn’t make sense and enjoy it.”
Still, with HunnyMoon Mountain, he hopes fans walk away with one thing: “Hope,” he says. “Wherever they are in love, I want them to feel like they’re not alone.”
